I am one half of the company Giddy Kipper; the one with the paintbrush who’s good at ‘colouring in’. Steve’s the one who likes to hit things with hammers and along with our small but brilliant team, we create handmade hand painted goodies for Kids, Coast, Country and award-winning special touches for weddings.
Giddy Weddings is the recently formed dedicated section for all things nuptial including place card holders, table numbers, favours, gifts for the happy couple & venue decorations. We love a good party and particularly a wedding – the colours and styling are my favourite part of the planning.
I don’t know about you, but I LOVE Christmas…with a capital L. The glitter, the sparkly lights, making festive food, the carols, putting up the tree…the lot. Now it’s even better with two little boys to share the fun with – seeing the delight on their faces is the best feeling!
So what better way to celebrate the festive season than throwing a bright and jolly party for the children. It may be that your child has a birthday around Christmas time so this theme would be the perfect theme for the birthday boy or girl or just an excuse to celebrate the season and the holidays!

There are lots of very sophisticated festive colour palettes – some minimal with one colour and a metallic accent or the ‘all white’ look which can be beautiful with twinkly clear lights but for a kids party I have chosen the traditional red and green. Not the deep colours of holly and berries but a much brighter palette with white to keep it looking jolly with a hint of Willy Wonka kookiness thrown in!
Invite your young guests to get into the Christmas spirit by dressing up in a festive costume… a reindeer, a snowman or an elf!

Decorate your party room with lovely shades of green, add some red and white stripes and swirls, balloons, garlands and a fun festive wreath.

Set the table with jolly plates and placecards with Christmas motifs. There are lots of websites with free Christmas printables – print onto card and make your own DIY cards for a cheap alternative. Put cutlery into mini striped stockings and add candy canes to the table or hang in rows for a super sweet garland

You can have lots of fun with the festive food…serve ‘snowcrunch’ in big bowls (popcorn and chocolate red & green m&ms), sandwiches cut into star or tree shapes, red & green cupcakes or cakes shaped as Christmas trees using ice cream cones.

For a healthier choice, serve chunks of fruit in jolly red & green paper cups or make red and green fruit ‘kebabs’ on wooden skewers
Drinks can be served in mini milk bottles with stripy straws or how about a green ‘Grinch Punch’ using green apple soda or similar green soft drink vanilla ice cream and green sprinkles? The kids will love it!

A party just wouldn’t be a party without some fun and games! Cover your tables with white paper and leave big pots or jars of crayons out for the children to doodle with as they eat.
Have some fun party games like hunt the Santa or pin the red nose on Rudolph as an alternative to pin the tail on the donkey! Play a Christmas version of Pass The Parcel adding festive prizes between layers like small tree decorations and chocolate coins and a booby prize..a Brussel Sprout! (uncooked of course!)
There are some fabulous resources online for party games and activities to keep everyone amused and of course throw in some cheesy Christmas party tunes for a lively atmosphere.

Send your party guests home with a sweet reminder of their festive fun by handing out party boxes using customised takeaway cartons (an inexpensive alternative to printed party bags) and add a colourful tag. Put in the obligatory piece of cake, a small gift like a lovely handmade mirror or notebook, a candy cane or chocolate santa.
